Hello everyone!

Thank you for the great guide! Very cool! :)
But I have a problem :(

[Fresh install on a HD] Followed all the steps, I installed SL RETAIL and went with the 10.6.5 version cause I was unsure if 10.6.6 would be stable enough yet for my rig. And unsure how to properly update it

[I went with Multibeast 3.0 and iboot 2.5.] For some reason iboot 2.6 wasnt working for me. But 2.5 worked. Weird.

My main problem is screen resolution -- its stuck at 1024x768. I dont have
other choices in Sys Prefs. What do I do?

Prior to Step 4 and chose "EasyBeast" -- I had many screen resolution choices [except for 1600x900 75hz]. Everything was fine until after the reboot, after following all the steps.

I googled, posted questions on other mac hack forums, no help :-(
Any help, please? Thank you very much :)

---------------------------------------------------

I tried to do that.
I went into a text editor and manually put in 1600x900x75 in that area of the string where I read in other forums you could do that.
Replaced it essentially.

Rebooted. And it still didnt work.
Did i do something wrong?

Or should I just put
    <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
    <string>Yes</string>

like how you did karacho?

Thanks!!!

Yep, only that string. Copy the com.apple.Boot.plist to your Desktop (because on some systems you havn't writerights in /Extra) and on your Desktop edit the boot.plist to your needs and copy it back to the /Extra folder after ...have a look: There's an example for a boot.plist

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Its not working :-(. Still stuck at 1024x768.

I overwrote it. Rebooted and all that stuff.
Here is what my updated boot.plist looks like currently

-----------------------------------
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>arch=i386</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>

<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1600x900x32@75</string>

<key>Timeout</key>
<string>1</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

-----------------------------------

Noticed TonyMac has this file. Should I run this?
"tonymacx86 NVIDIA Update.mpkg"

Getting so frustrated. Someone out there must have the same probs Im having too.

Updated 75 to 60. Removed "arch=i386"
Was told to use x60 instead of @60.
Not sure if that is correct.

Still stuck at 1024x768 display :-(

After experimenting for a coupla hours and looking over the replies, I've gotten partial success! Thanks to Karacho and CoreOSX for taking the time to help Troubleshoot!

Was able to change resolution to 1920x1200. :-)
But sadly couldn't get 1600x900. :-(
Thinking it may be the Dell 2408wfp monitor itself, that can't support certain rez's.
It prolly is to some degree.
Currently running VGA and not DVI.
[using a KVM switch that doesn't have DVI support]
I'll try DVI later on separately, for now VGA works.

Removed "arch=i386"

Saved .plist in both 'Extras' folder and in 'Lib/Pref/SysConfig'

Here's my updated .plist

<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1200x32</string>

<key>Timeout</key>
<string>1</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

Guessing, the @60 or @75 after x32 was causing it to not recognize the updated rez.
So, guessing removing that portion also helped it!

Reading other forums like...

http://www.sysprobs.com/increase-mac-os-virtual-machine-screen-resolution-virtualbox-vmware-player

Perhaps, adding that @[refresh rate] is needed when running OSX separately in a Virtual machine. Any insight to why this is, is much appreciated.

Thanks again and hope this helps others with the same prob!
