Hi everybody,

I'm trying to install Mac OS X Lion on my

Sony Vaio VFPC1
Core i5
4 GB Ram
nVidia GTM 425

I created a bootable Stick with UniBeast. The boot screen hangs up on "PCI configuration begin". napci=0x2000 and some other bootflags want work for me. I'm able to install Lion if I copy IOPCIFamily.kext and AppleACPIPlateform.kext on the USB Stick in the hidden Directory System/Library/Extensions. But if I boot the system after the installation, the Laptop says I have to turn it off and on again. Something with panic and some error messages to the files mentioned aboved.

So, I'm nearly sure that it is not enough to copy the two files just to the USB Stick without any further action.

Can you tell me please what to do with those files before and after the installation.

Thank you in advance.

Greetings

plate-gt

I m not sure about other but IOPCIFamily.kext should be in.
/System/Library/Extensions
As I saw this file in above mention directory. I will double check and confirm about AppleACPIPlatform.kext too

Hi,

thanks for your response. Everywhere on the web you can read: "If you have problems with the [PCI configuration begin] install IOPCIFamily.kext and AppleACPIPlateform.kext. But where and how should I install this? Not on the Laptop cause the HDD is clean. And how could I install this on the USB-Stick? I think it is a difference between copy and install. And I just copied it.

On the stick, there are two possibilities. Directly on the stick ist the Directory /System/Library/Extensions. Or should I copy those files into the LionInstall.app file?

Thanks.

Greetings

Well there is actually no difference. As mac does not know that you are copying or installing. but still if you have confusion you can use SR tools in the side the download section on this site.
this will give you ability to Rollback the changes that you have done. Thats why I like it.
You can copy over or installed these kexts files later. when installation is done. these kexts files are the same as installing the new driver so does not matter that you are copy/install soon or later, whenever copy/installed your device will start working.
let me know if you have more question. For your comfort below is the link to SR tools.

Hi,

thanks for your effort. I'm new to MAC which makes things not eassier. But I'm experienced in Windows and Linux.

I'm thinking now a step further and try to fix the problem with the Terminal or Disk Utility from the install medium (USB-Stick).

I attached a "screenshot" from the error message. In "error.jpg" you see the normal boot from the HDD. In "error_verbose.jpg" you see the boot with the bootflag -v.

My feeling told me that it should be possible to solve this via command line or rescue tool.

But as mentioned, I'm not exprienced in Mac OS X, so i don't know what to do.

Thanks.

BTW: I'm not able to rollback anything cause Lion does unfortenatly not boot.
