the install of usb was probably just fine.
if you looked at the usb stick with finder, many folders are hidden.
Terminal:
cd /Volumes/"USB...." (whatever it's name is in quotes if spaces exist)
cd Extra
vi org.chameleon.Boot.plist
remove:
</string>npci=0x2000;....<string>

Or configure finder to show hidden files.
in Terminal:
> defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
> killall Finder
then you will see all files on all disks within finder.

there where no flags to set on boot that could get rid of npci kernal flag. but once i got rid of </string>npci=0x2000;....<string> in the Extra folder of the sub stick install worked fine. Reinstalled fine since this edit as well.
after install of chimera/chameleon, make sure the HD partition containing the installed OS Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist does not have the npci string, or it will be difficult to get past the PCI Configuration Begin

I only have:
<key>Kernal Flags</key>
<string>arch=x84_64</string>
for 64bit.

this is what works on my g73jw-a1

Hi

I have very similar kit to you and cannot for the life of me get Unibeast USB working. I can boot the USB and get as far as seeing a hatched background but then nothing more. It just hangs.

I've tried -x, -v, -s, GraphicsEnabler=No (but I thought an HD4670 was supported) and tried your npci=0x2000 (I'll try anything).

Any advice? (Please!)

I have P55-USB3 rev2 F9 BIOS - 8Gb - HD4670 (also a Marvell 61xx PCIE controller with 4 HDDs on). Should I remove the Marvell controller? If I have to then I lose 8Tb of storage on my machine (run Windows too).

I have a 40gb SSD waiting just for OSX (and my genuine iMac for making USB sticks on)

I managed to get passed that screen and make the installer start but now I'm encountering an "Install failed" screen :(. The trick in my case was the following: after running unibeast I had to replace the following two files:
-IOPCIFamily.kext
-AppleACPIPlatform.kext

They are both found on the USB stick you create with unibeast under the following path: System/Library/Extensions.

I'll keep the thread posted when I find the next solution.

P.S. I don't know if I am allowed to link here to megaupload to give you the kexts you need to replace the bad ones.

It's not exactly the same notebook. You have G53J with an i7 processor while mine is an i5. That might cause the problem. Anyway, I tried it with both 1 or 0.

Working out the problem with another forum user who has exactly your notebook (Lion installer works for him also).

When and if I find the solution I will post it up here.

If anybody has any ideas though, feel free to throw them my way.

EDIT: I finally got it. Will post solution in the morning.
