Hello, I have the P6X58D-E motherboard which has the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 network card. I'm not able to get Ethernet, what can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Install a compatible LAN card.

Use a USB or PCI Wifi dongle (make sure it is Lion compatible, there are a number of threads discussing the travails of making it work).

Try to find a suitable kext to install....IIRC there was a Marvell kext in an older version of MB, but it was removed, as it was unstable.

For instance:

http://www.osx86.net/view/669-marvell_y ... e8056.html

But it likely isn't Lion compatible....so you would need to search further.

Got it working on my last OSX install with kexts but can't remember which ones I used :( Just wondering if anyone has one that works?

I got it working!

Method:

1. Install the kext attached using Kext Utility. (Install Kext Utility and drag the IONetworkingFamily.kext on top of the Kext Utility's icon to Install)

2. After installing the kext, open Terminal (Found in Applications/Utilities) and type:

Code:
sudo ipconfig set en0 DHCP

3. Restart Computer. Once booted back up, go to System Preferences and click on Network.

Hope it works for you!

Thank you very much for your post Safinn.

I followed your instruction and worked for me as well. I really appreciate it. I tried so many advises and different solutions but none worked. Thanks a lot.

awesome it worked!
no need for the terminal command as already set to DHCP in preferences (actually the command is wrong and would not work)

If you have another Mac or Hack, hook up your hdd to it, delete the Kext that crashed the system, repair permissions, and fingers crossed you system will reboot.

That is not to say that your network would be fully funtional afterwards, and you may need to reinstall some other network components.

Good luck
